Introduction to Glass Calligraphy Pen

A dip pen is a kind of calligraphy pen made up with a handle and one of a range of differently sized nibs. The handle may be made of wood, glass, bone, metal or plastic. Today we introduce the glass calligraphy pen to everyone.

The majority of calligraphers choose to use a glass dip pen. It's perfect for testing different pen inks.

Glass calligraphy pen has two different nibs, straight nib and wave nib, ink flow faster with straight nib. I think the pen with wave nib is more suitable for novice alligraphers, it's easy to control well.

Dip the pen about halfway into the inkwell. the ink tends to ‘rise’ up the grooves on its own. Check to ensure that there’s just the right amount of ink on the tip. Too much, and it’ll leave messy globs. Too little and you won’t be able to write. Glass calligraphy pens work best with thinner inks as the thin grooves don’t allow a more viscous ink to flow very well.

Although glass calligraphy pen is fragile, we can use a pen holder or pen box. I keep mine in the box I bought it in. Although the box itself is flimsy (it is made of cardboard), but the padding inside keeps it safe from dust, scratches and inadvertent accidents.

Glass calligraphy pens with a glass tip or nib can dull after long-term use. To restore the fine point, gently sanding the tip back into a point with some very fine sandpaper.

Finally, please clean your pen regularly as you write. Dip it in water every 2-3 minutes and wipe it off with a cotton cloth.
